What is The Coronavirus?

Coronaviruses correspond to a family of viruses that can cause various types of respiratory infections, from a common cold, to more serious conditions such as pneumonia in some cases, such as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV.

Probably the novel coronavirus or COVID. -19 is of animal origin. It was first detected in December last year in Wuhan City, China, and has so far been broadcast in more than 100 countries.

Symptoms:

  • Dry cough
  • High fever (over 38 ° C)
  • Nasal congestion
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Muscle pains

The manifestations are generally mild and begin gradually. However, one in six people, especially those with chronic or respiratory pathologist, can progress to a serious condition that involves:

  • High fever (over 38 ° C)
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Respiratory failure
Coronavirus symptoms can begin between days 2 and 14 after an exposure with an infected person, being more common around the fifth day.

Causes: 

The disease is caused by a coronavirus strain, called SARS-CoV-2, and which was first reported in the town of Wuhan, China, in late 2019.


It is spread between people, mainly by large drops. respiratory when coughing and sneezing. 
In addition, these secretions can contaminate some surfaces and, if they are contacted, without subsequent hand hygiene, it is also possible to become infected. 

The Main Preventive Measures Are:

 Wash your hands  frequently, with soap and water or alcohol gel, especially if you have been with a sick person.
 
If you have contact with a person with respiratory symptoms, regardless of their history,  you should not be close.
 
When sneezing or coughing, cover your mouth and nose with a  disposable tissue , not your hand, and throw it away.
 

Clean  the surfaces.

Wear a  mask  if you are in contact with a person who has traveled in the last 14 days to any of the countries that have had confirmed cases.

If a person comes from China or one of the countries where cases have been reported, and has a respiratory infection, they should  notify the authority  at the airport,  wear a mask  and  visit a doctor  as soon as possible.

Avoid places with  crowded people.
